Yogurt
There are high levels of protein in natural yogurt that uses up a lot of energy when being processed your body. Furthermore, there are pro-biotic cultures found in yogurt help regulate your digestive tract.

Soya Bean, Soy Milk, Soy Juice *all the same
Soya bean is loaded with calcium, which helps boost your metabolism. Just stay away from the sweetened varieties.

Honey
Honey mobilizes the extra fat deposits in the body. Two spoonful of honey before bed will help burn off fat while you sleep. The hibernation diet promises to help people lose weight while they sleep. This diet was developed by an Edinburgh pharmacist and sports nutritionist, is said to be endorsed by Olympic gold-winning cyclist Chris Hoy and used by champion boxer Alex Arthur. The diet advises eating a couple of teaspoons of honey before bedtime and training with weights instead of long aerobic workouts.

What to eat?
Add Some Spice to Your Diet - It's been proven time and time again that eating hot, spicy foods - peppers, chilis, jalapenos, etc - causes a metabolic spike. The next time you eat your high protein meal, add a little spice to it to give your metabolism an added jolt!

Grapefruit
This diet super fruit (above) lowers the insulin levels in your body that trigger your system to store fat. Plus, it is rich in fiber, and your body must burn extra calories in order to break it down.

Apple
Like grapefruit, this low-calorie snack is high in fiber, which your body must burn calories to break down. Plus, since apples help you stay full for longer, you’ll eat less. Green apples are the best.

Spinach
Popeye was right about one thing: spinach can help make you strong and healthy. In addition to speeding up your metabolism, it’s a great source of antioxidants, magnesium, potassium, iron and vitamin C.

Broccoli *Asparagus, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Celery, Lettuce, and Zucchini
Broccoli contains a highly effective metabolism-boosting team of nutrients: calcium and vitamin C. Calcium acts as a metabolic trigger, while vitamin C helps your body absorb more calcium.

Beans
Low in fat and packed with protein, beans keep you full for long durations, and your body must burn extra calories in order to process this fiber-rich food.

Jalapenos & Habanero & Cayenne Peppers
The capcaisin found in jalapenos causes your body to burn extra calories for hours after you ingest them, speeding up both your heart rate and metabolism.

Whole Grains
Whole grains are a good source of B vitamins, Vitamin E, magnesium, iron and fiber, as well as other valuable antioxidants not found in some fruits and vegetables. Most of the antioxidants and vitamins are found in the germ and the bran of a grain. Whole grains have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease by decreasing cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and blood coagulation. Whole grains have also been found to reduce the risks of many types of cancer. They may also help regulate blood glucose in people living with diabetes. Other studies have also shown that people who consume more whole grains consistently weigh less than those who consumed less whole grain products.

Common Types of Whole Grains:
*wild rice * brown rice * whole wheat * oatmeal * whole oats * barley * whole rye * bulgar * popcorn

Less Common Types of Whole Grains:
* amaranth * millet * quinoa * sorghum * triticale

Almonds
Almonds essential fatty acids help raise your body’s metabolism. Just don’t overdo it because they’re also very high in calories.

Oatmeal
Because your body takes a long time to break down the fat-soluble fiber in oatmeal, this healthy food lowers your body’s insulin level and speeds up your metabolism as a result.

Eggs
If you want to burn fat, nothing beats breakfast. The morning meal fires up your metabolism and increases your energy to tackle the day ahead and hopefully your morning workout. Eat eggs. Research shows that egg eaters consume fewer calories than non-egg eaters in the hours following breakfast. Egg whites are packed with proteins

Lean Turkey also works for Chicken, Beef, or Pork
This protein-rich meat builds lean muscle tissue, which causes your body to burn extra calories and raises your metabolism.

Salmon, Tuna, and Sardines.
Fat-burning fish foods:These foods all contain large amounts of omega-3 fatty acids which, besides being incredibly healthy, seems to have a strong effect on metabolism. Omega-3 fats (the healthiest of 'good fats') alters levels of a body hormone called leptin which directly influences metabolism and determines whether you burn calories or store them as fat. Basically, the less leptin you have in your bloodstream the more calories you use for energy. Cold-water fish and omega-3 oils like flax seed oil - which is definitely a strong fat-burning food - have been shown to significantly lower leptin levels and improve metabolism.

Curry
Like jalapenos, curry increases the amount of calories your body burns and speeds up your metabolism.

What Spices to use?

Cinnamon
A little bit of cinnamon can go a long way. Add some zing to your daily cup of tea with this tasty spice to help your body metabolize sugars more effectively and maintain steadier blood sugar levels. Cinnamon can also help lower your cholesterol.

Cardamom
Cardamom is a thermogenic herb like Capsaicin that increases metabolism and helps burn body fat.

Garlic
Garlic helps to lower cholesterol in blood and also burn fat.

Cayenne Pepper
Capsaicin, the compound that gives peppers their heat, may help fight obesity by decreasing calorie intake, shrinking fat tissue, and lowering blood fat levels, as well as fight fat buildup by triggering beneficial protein changes in your body. Part of the benefit may be due to capsaicin's heat potential, as it is a thermogenic substance that may temporarily increase thermogenesis in your body, where your body burns fuel such as fat to create heat, with beneficial impacts on metabolism and fat storage. Research suggests that consuming thermogenic ingredients may boost your metabolism by up to 5 percent, and increase fat burning by up to 16 percent. It may even help counteract the decrease in metabolic rate that often occurs during weight loss.

Black Pepper
Black pepper contains a substance called piperine, which not only gives it its pungent flavor, but also blocks the formation of new fat cells. When combined with capsaicin and other substances, black pepper was also found to burn as many calories as taking a 20-minute walk. As an aside, black pepper also increases the bioavailability of just about all other foods -- herbs and other compounds – making it a healthy choice for virtually any meal.

Curry leaves (Curry Patta)
Curry leaves flush out fat and toxins, reducing fat deposits in the body.

Ginseng
Ginseng is valued for its ability to boost energy levels and speed metabolism. Panax ginseng, in particular, has been linked to weight loss benefits, with one study showing obese, diabetic mice given panax ginseng extracts not only had improvements in insulin sensitivity, but also lost a significant amount of weight after 12 days.
